Eagle Academy is a homeschool support organization that helps families figure out the best way to
homeschool for their family. We ensure that families understand the requirements for homeschooling in
the state of Georgia. We help them find curriculum, classes, clubs, extracurriculars, and events. We offer
guidance in completing high school transcripts and other forms. We also offer classes and tutoring
through our homeschool pod.

Eagle Academy was created when the Hembree family decided to start homeschooling their oldest two
children. As Jessica started teaching her children certain topics, like canning jams and pickles, she had
friends of hers ask if she could teach their children those topics as well. Their local homeschool group
soon started offering classes, so Mrs. Hembree taught classes there. When the organization lost the use
of their location mid-year, she didn’t want to leave her students without finishing the courses. Jessica
moved her classes to her home and finished the school year. The next year, families asked her if she
would offer classes again. The next year was the same. As connections were formed with the families
that took classes, Eagle Academy looked toward a different approach. Students were thriving in the
environment that EA offered. Parents who were struggling to teach foreign languages or advanced
science found help through the classes. Families who didn’t look forward to the messes of art projects or
science experiments were able to take those classes with EA. Over the years, the program has matured.

Eagle Academy offers structured class days twice a week through our homeschool pod. Students are
able to take a single class or multiple classes, depending on the needs and desires of their family. While
most students meet in person, taking a class virtually is also an option. Classes are available for students
in third grade through twelfth grade. For each grade level, EA provides at least one option for each core
subject: math, science, social studies, and English language arts. EA also offers foreign languages, fine
arts, and electives.

When developing our classes, we look to the Georgia Standards of Excellence
(https://www.georgiastandards.org/), ensuring that our courses meet or exceed the comparable classes
that students would take in public school. In most cases, our classes exceed those standards. Our
courses also take into account varied learning styles students may have as well as any learning
difficulties or disabilities. We use a combination of auditory lessons, text, video, physical activities, and
online activities to help present and reinforce the information presented in a class. High school level
students must meet work level requirements comparable to their public-school counterparts in order to
earn credit for a course and all of our classes are graded.

We are firm believers that all children can accomplish amazing things if they are encouraged,
challenged, and well educated.
